About Cantor Fishbein
Â
Cantor Tracy Fishbein joined The Temple, in Nashville, Tennessee in June 2012. She was ordained at the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City. She enjoyed meaningful learning experiences in Jerusalem and New York City, including a summer of Clinical Pastoral Education at Beth Israel Medical Center, as well as facilitating programs and leading services for the Wandering Jews of Astoria, an independent minyan for 20-30’s Jews in Astoria, Queens. Cantor Fishbein has been blessed to work as the Student Cantor of congregations in Missouri, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. As part of her student pulpit duties, Cantor Fishbein created both adult and youth choral ensembles, developed and taught a B’nai Mitzvah preparation course, and created a religious school music curriculum for grades K-8.
At The Temple, Cantor Fishbein is responsible for the musical programming and education. She is honored to create worship experiences for all Shabbat, holiday, and festival services, as well as coordinate the volunteer band, adult High Holy Day choir, and featured soloists. Particularly, she revitalized The Temple's youth choir, The Temple Mazel Tones, into an excited and enthusiastic group of singers in grades K-4, who sing the liturgy of every Family Service throughout the school year, participate in Religious School t'filah and programming, and provide Mitzvah Concerts to assisted living facilities three times a year. Additionally, she tutors all of The Temple's B'nai Mitzvah students, through a 6th grade "B'nai Mitzvah Bootcamp" and one-on-one sessions with all students and families - children and adults!
A talented singer and musician, Cantor Fishbein enjoys performing in concerts at The Temple and around Nashville, where she organizes The West End Clergy Group's annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Concert, featuring 12-15 musical ensembles from various faith communities. She also coordinates an annual Cantor's Concert, bringing together the Jewish congregations of Nashville for an afternoon of song and community. She has been blessed to work with the Nashville Symphony Chorus, as well as Nashville In Harmony, a local LGBTQ+ chorus, and often travels to local churches to present lectures and music both inside and out of worship services.
Cantor Fishbein's greatest joy comes from spending time with her husband, Glenn, two children, Anna (4) and Joshua (2), and her extended community of family and friends.Â
