In commemoration of International Holocaust Memorial Day, Temple Emanuel will host a screening of a new film on the topic of antisemitism: Tragic Awakening: A New Look at the Oldest Hatred. The hour-long film is open to teens and adults and will be followed by a brief discussion.

About the event
International Holocaust Memorial Day is held on January 27. This day was created several years ago as a mechanism to remember the Holocaust in general. January 27 is the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp and this year marks the 80th anniversary of that liberation.
The October 7 pogrom in Israel in 2023 was the worst massacre of Jews since the days of the Holocaust, yet rather than rally to the victim’s side with empathy and compassion, the international community has, confoundingly, exploded with Jew-hatred.
