About the event

Welcome to Temple Emanuel’s second opportunity for those of you who want to learn the fabulous game of Mah Jong. We’re back by popular demand and we can’t wait to meet you and show you what a wonderful – and possibly addictive – game you’ll learn.

Our sessions will meet at Temple Emanuel, 1129 Jefferson Road in Greensboro. Our 4 classes will meet on the following Wednesday nights.

June 5 6:30-8:30 PM

June 12 7:00-9:00 PM

June 19 6:30-8:30 PM

June 26 6:30-8:30 PM

Please enter through the administrative entrance to the left of the main door as you look at the building.

We ask that you try very hard to commit to all four sessions. If you miss a week, you’ll miss a lot. (Didn’t someone say that?) We know that life sometimes gets in the way but continuity is important.

American Mah jong hands are created from a card that changes annually. We are currently using the new (because it comes out at the end of March) 2024 card. You’ll need to have that card for the first session. The only place to get the card is online from the National Mahjongg League. Their web site is www.nationalmahjonggleague.org. The cards come small or large, both with the same information, order the card that suits your vision needs. Large card is $15, small card is $14. THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE TO GET THE OFFICIAL CARD. NOT AMAZON, NOT WALMART. Those cards are either out of date or wrong.

We’ve been asked a few questions – here are the answers.

No, you don’t have to be Jewish to join us.

There is no charge for the lessons.

No, it doesn’t drive us crazy to teach new players. Someone taught us when we were new.

Yes, you may ask as many questions as you like. That’s how you learn.

If we haven’t answered your questions, feel free to contact us. You’re gonna love it!
