About the event
Ever since Juneteenth was declared a national holiday, Temple Emanuel has gathered to celebrate this important day for our country. In January, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we examine King's life and legacy. On Juneteenth, we change our focus to Jews of Color as well as Jewish involvement in the American Civil Rights Movement.
This year we are pleased to welcome Afrique Kilimanjaro as our guest speaker. Afrique is the Publisher and Editor of the Carolina Peacemaker, the African-American newspaper that her parents, Vickie Kilimanjaro and John Kilimanjaro of blessed memory founded in 1967. She also serves as a Trustee on the Temple Board.
Join us in-person every Friday evening for Shabbat services. Note that our services are also livestreamed on the Temple Facebook page.
