About the event

All are welcome! Join the immigration sub-committee for a discussion of the short book: "Making Our Way to Lumpkin."

In 2019, a dedicated group of North Carolinians journeyed to a detention center in rural Georgia to visit detained men and remind them they are not forgotten. This collection of the travelers' essays offer impressions and insights of how those journeys brought them to a seemingly hopeless situation only to show them the enduring qualities of the human spirit. Through prose and poetry, the travelers describe the sights, sounds, and emotions they experienced throughout their journey, and how these unique weekend travels inspired them to advocate more passionately for immigration policies that are just and humane.

Limited copies are available for loan through the Temple Emanuel library.

The book is also available for purchase at Scuppernong Books and on Amazon.com.
