Learn about the Triad’s natural history as you participate in a Park Ranger/Naturalist guided walk through Bur-Mil Park and a visit to the park’s Education Center. The cost is $10/person, which covers the food for the picnic. Make your check payable to Temple Emanuel and mail to: Caredith Gillis, 3915 Brass Cannon Court, 27410, 282-1137. Your check is your reservation. We will meet at the park’s Education Center.
5. The Community Theatre of Greensboro presents Periphery, an original play by Ed Simpson, on May 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greensboro Historical Museum, 130 Summit Avenue. If you would like to attend the play, Rabbi Koren has 30 tickets; please contact him at 336-292-7899. Periphery highlights the historic events surrounding the Woolworth’s sit-in on February 1, 1960, underscoring how the “Greensboro Four’s” heroic actions affected a diverse group of ordinary Greensboro citizens. This play was commissioned for Greensboro’s Bicentennial.
6. Recipes for the Temple Emanuel cookbook are still being collected. By now, we hope you received a phone call from one of our volunteers reminding Temple members to submit their favorite recipes. Please take the time to include your favorite, your mother's and/or grandmother's family favorites so that we can create an amazing cookbook. The concept is to educate us how to put a holiday meal together, how to cook traditional Jewish foods, and how to cook our favorite recipes. The recipes will be kosher style (not meat and milk together, nor shellfish or pork products).
7. The Book of the Century will include a history of Temple Emanuel with dates, figures, names and anecdotes highlighting 100 years of Temple life. The Book will be a wonderful keepsake for all members. All congregants will receive a copy free of charge. Please consider submitting your thoughts and wishes, and make a contribution to support the creation of the document. A form has been included in past bulletins and can be downloaded from our website, www.tegreensboro.org. The deadline is June 18, 2008. Questions may be addressed to Inge Guttmann, 207-9443 or irgfunds@aol.com.
