TERS Upcoming Events
TE Religious School Goes To The Zoo
Sunday, October 21, 2012, 9:30am
What better way to highlight the story of Noah’s ark than a visit to the NC Zoo! Instead of just talking about animals, we will have a chance to see them up close. We’ll meet at the Zoo (carpooling is highly encouraged) and have a special session with one of the Zoo’s educators. So, plan on spending a beautiful day exploring our tradition and its special connection with nature.
We are most grateful to the NC Zoo Society and Temple’s very own Dr. Jayne Owen Parker, who as Director of Conservation Education for the NC Zoo Society, helped arrange this program for our youth and families.
Annual Feast of Caring
Thursday, November 15, 2012
The Feast is an exciting event, which invites the community to come together to kick-off Urban Ministry's annual fund-raising campaign. The event is noted for the beautiful pottery donated by local potters in Greensboro and the surrounding communities. When you make a minimum pledge or donation to Greensboro Urban Ministry that night, you will receive a pottery bowl or five Honor Cards. All participants are treated to freshly prepared soup and homemade bread. Temple Emanuel staffs a table at the event with matzah ball soup and challah. This event is held at First Baptist Church.
Annual Holiday Gift Bazaar
Sunday, November 18, 2012, 10:00am-3:00pm
Support the Early Childhood Engagement Center at Temple Emanuel while shopping at the annual craft bazaar. Hand crafted items, including jewelry, stationery, pottery and decorative items, will be showcased. Additionally, Brotherhood will provide their traditional Kosher hot dog lunch.
Congregational Chanukah Party
Sunday, December 9, 2012, 6:00pm
On the second night of Chanukah, we’ll light the menorah, hear the Chanukah story and celebrate the festival of lights. Join us for great fun for kids of all ages and delicious food, including homemade latkes.
Spring Mix ~ Temple’s Spring Fundraiser
Main event: Saturday, April 13, 2013
Formerly known as “Dinner at 8,” or “Dinner And…,” we hope that you will join us for Spring Mix. We will be using the same format as the last three years; a main event with food, drinks and an auction, surrounded by several weeks of other exciting events and dinners. If you are interested in
hosting an event for the Spring Mix, or helping with the auction, please contact Stacey Papier (Spring Mix Chair) at sppapier@gmail.com or Jessie Melamed (in the Temple office) at jmelamed@tegreensboro.org
Mitzvah Day
Sunday, May 5, 2013
Members of Temple Emanuel have been fixing "our little corner of the world" for the last sixteen years with Mitzvah Day. Each spring, Temple members join with those from Beth David Synagogue, AHA, B'nai Shalom, NC Hillel, Hadassah, Greensboro Jewish Federation, the Jewish Foundation and Jewish Family Services to perform acts of tikkun olam. Over 600 volunteers participated last year, serving over 40 agencies in the community and surrounding areas. After a wonderful breakfast prepared by Temple Emanuel Brotherhood and Beth David Mens Club, volunteers visited, fed, planted, assembled, fixed, played, sang, built and much more!
Mitzvah Day 2013 will be held on Sunday, May 5. Co-chairs: Kimberly Ellick and Erika Levitan. Registration will begin in January 2013.
